Bioethics in Catastrophe?

My blog post on environmental catastrophe and bioethics is up on the IJFAB blog today – check it out! And while you’re there, browse many fabulous discussions by awesome feminist bioethicists and philosophers.

Is It the End of the World? (And if so, what should we do about it?)

I am pleased to announce that I will host a Philosophy Slam on Tuesday, March 3rd at 7:30 pm in Jacksonville, organized by Jacksonville University.

Title: It It the End of the World? (And if so, what should we do about it?)

I’m going to prompt discussion of environmental global catastrophe, ask for critiques of the narratives of catastrophe we’re given and question the implications of the solutions most often posed.

Other slams:

Tuesday, February 10th at 7:30pm: Associate Professor of Religion Julie Ingersoll of UNF asks the question “Does Evolution Discredit Religion?”

Tuesday, April 7th at 7:30pm: Philosopher and novelist Ron Cooper of the College of Central Florida. Title TBA.

Location for the slams is Northstar Substation, 119 E Bay St in downtown Jacksonville.
